Sapphire has a remarkable hardness – 9 on the Mohs scale (the third hardest mineral, after diamond at 10 and moissanite at 9.5), which makes it very durable. Lab-grown sapphires have the same physical, chemical and optical characteristics as mined sapphires and indistinguishable from them by not gem experts. Lab-grown gemstones are ethically sourced and do not case as much damage to the environment as mining.

On the Brilliance Refractive Index, Moissanite is more brilliant than diamonds, ranging from 2.65-2.69 on the scale. On the Mohs hardness scale, Moissanite comes in second only to a diamond, measuring at 9.25. Moissanite's durability is excellent, meaning it will survive daily wear and tear.
